Frequently Asked Questions
Meal planning, shopping lists, recipe import and data privacy
What should I cook this week?
CookyFast creates a one-click weekly plan for breakfast, lunch and dinner — from your own recipe collection. No more starting from scratch every Sunday.
How fast can I create a weekly meal plan?
In seconds. Once you have collected recipes and set your preferences, CookyFast builds your full weekly plan with one click.
Does CookyFast plan breakfast, lunch and dinner?
Yes. CookyFast plans all three meals and prefers recipes that match your per-meal preferences — e.g. quick breakfast, vegetarian lunch, gourmet dinner.
Are recipes repeated that I just ate?
No. CookyFast avoids repeats from the past 7 days and from your current 7-day planning window — for more variety.
Can I adjust my weekly plan?
Yes. Swap individual meals, assign recipes manually, or leave slots open — the automatic plan is your starting point, not a straitjacket.
Does CookyFast automatically create a shopping list?
Yes. CookyFast generates a shopping list with all needed ingredients from your weekly plan in one click. Pantry staples and items like a pinch of salt are automatically excluded.
Can I edit the shopping list?
Yes. The shopping list is editable — check off, add, or remove items before you shop.
How do I import recipes into CookyFast?
Four ways: paste a URL, upload a PDF, take a photo, or scan a QR code. Ingredients and steps are automatically recognized.
Does import work with magazine or cookbook recipes?
Yes. Photograph the recipe page or upload the PDF — CookyFast recognizes ingredients and steps and adds them to your collection.
Are ingredient amounts shown directly in the cooking steps?
Yes — that is a core feature. In CookyFast you see amounts directly in each step, without scrolling back and forth between the ingredient list and instructions.
Can I set dietary preferences?
Yes. Set per-meal preferences: vegetarian, vegan, high protein, quick & easy, gourmet and more. The weekly plan prefers matching recipes from your collection.
Are intolerances taken into account?
Yes. Set gluten-free, lactose-free, nut-free and other intolerances — meal planning only considers recipes without those ingredients.
Can I adjust portion sizes?
Yes. Change portion count and all amounts scale automatically — you can also adjust individual ingredients.
Is there a kitchen scale mode?
Yes, optionally. Tablespoons and teaspoons are converted to grams — handy if you prefer weighing everything.
Is CookyFast free?
You start free with 25 recipe imports and a first weekly plan (7 days). Unlimited meal planning and additional import credits are available as one-time unlocks.
Does CookyFast work on mobile?
Yes. CookyFast is a web app for browsers on desktop and mobile — your recipes and plans sync via your account across devices.
Can I share CookyFast with my family or household?
Yes. Via household invites, multiple people can share the same recipe pool, weekly plan and shopping list.
Where are my recipes stored?
Your recipes are transmitted in encrypted form and stored in the cloud in Zurich. Without signing in, your content is not accessible.
Who can see my recipes and meal plans?
Only you — and people you explicitly add via household invite. Every access requires signing in. Your recipes, meal plan and shopping list are visible only to your household — not public and not accessible to other users.
